Children in foster care face unique challenges. At the 15th annual YWCA Benefit Luncheon, keynote speaker Victoria Rowell will share her own experiences and discuss how caring adults can help. Columbia is a sponsor of the event, which is scheduled for Oct. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Hilton in Vancouver.
As the author of “The Women Who Raised Me,” Rowell was a ward of the state at birth and went on to have many mothers. In 1990, Rowell founded The Rowell Foster Children’s Positive Plan, which introduces children in foster care to fine arts and athletics and helps them with job placement. She is also the national spokesperson for Casey Family Services. An actress and ballet dancer, Rowell has appeared in numerous television shows and movies.
Columbia has an ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for the families in our branch communities and is proud to partner with the YWCA in serving the needs of more than 10,000 women, children and families throughout the year. For more information, visit www.ywcaclarkcounty.org.
