Vote for your favorite neighborhood to help the city of Vancouver and Columbia Credit Union honor one association for its members' community spirit and vision for the future. The winning neighborhood will receive 150 trees, $1,000 for beautification, and honorary street signs.

This special award, “Neighborhood of the 150th,” is part of the city's 150th anniversary of incorporation and will be given through Vancouver's Sparkles Award program. The Vancouver Sparkles Award is an annual program that recognizes people who go the extra mile to make their neighborhood special: whether it’s picking up litter during a daily walk, organizing a clean-up, or helping neighbors with yard work. Since 2001, more than 200 individuals have been recognized, but this is the first year an entire neighborhood will be honored.
Sponsoring the 150 winning trees was a natural extension of Columbia's environmental values and a great way to green our community while honoring neighbors who have pride in it. Columbia also supports tree plantings through the Sleeves for Trees program.
The winning neighborhood will be announced at Vancouver's "150th Anniversary Community Picnic in the Park" Saturday, Sept. 1. Join your neighbors at the Esther Short Park from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for music, a pie-eating contest, baking contests, games, food and more.
